The TennisConnect Editor is supported in six different operating systems and seven different browsers (supported versions).  While the product is extremely reliable, issues do come up on certain platforms from time to time (usually during a new release of the operating system or browser).

If you are experiencing an error please check here for an interim workaround and/or expected fix plan.

Known bugs:

FIXED 12/2009 Spell Checker not working.  The spell check software is being blocked by our application firewall.  We are waiting on one of our suppliers for a new version of the spell checker.  Anticipated release date: March 2010.  Interim fix: use the built in spellchecker in FireFox (download from www.firefox.com).

Known Issues:

12/2010 Hyperlinks to anchors in the text do not work (completely).  An Anchor is a bookmark on a phrase or an image, usually located further down on a longer web page.  Using an anchor allows you to set up a hyperlink to take a visitor directly to that phrase or image (from another web page or place on the existing page).  This is an example of a hyperlink to an anchor where the anchor is "sample anchor" (and the word "example" has a hyperlink placed on it to go to the anchor).

So anchors are used to "zoom" your web site visitor to specific places on a page, eliminating the need to scan through the text to find what they are looking for.

TennisConnect works great when you make a link to an anchor on the same page.  However, you will need to edit the hyperlink manually to get anchors to work when landing on a different page.

The problem in TennisConnect is that the TCOEditor truncates the prefix http://[URL] and simply inserts the address: #anchorname.

The actual construction of the HTML source code is http://[URL]#anchorname.  When TCOEditor truncates the URL, the browser does not know where to go, and defaults you opt the home page of the web site.

The solution is to edit the hyperlink (highlight it and choose insert / edit hyperlink) and add in the full path to the page.

If you are comfortable with it, you can also go into the source code for the page () and find the truncated code and type in the page URL prefix:

Truncated code (example): <a href="#anchor">link </a>to the anchor</p>

Updated manually so that it works: <a href=http://tennissupport.com/KB/a67/known-tcoeditor-issues.aspx#sample_anchor">link .....

Your prefix and resulting URL would probably something like http://mydomain.com/pages/index.cfm?siteid=XXXXX#anchor

So all you need to do is go out to the page in question on your Consumer Site, copy the URL, and paste it in using Source Code mode as indicated above.

Planned Enhancements (as of 12/2009 - target 3/2010)
  • Insert Code.  COMPLETED We all dislike the requirement to insert source code when inserting widgets (like Weather Magnets, YouTube videos, PhotoBucket Shows, etc).  Web site developers insert code all the time, and know where to look for the insertion point; but most users do not.  We have spec'd out an "Insert Source Code" function that will be accessible from the tool bar, so you will be able to insert widget / embed code.  Maybe we'll get to this in March 2010 when we get the new Spell Checker?
  • Insert Hyperlink - Browse to Document Library.  Instead of having to go to your document library first, upload the document, create the insertion point, and then insert a hyperlink... wouldn't it be nice if you could do that all in one fell swoop by creating the insertion point, clicking Insert Hyperlink... and being able to do the rest on the fly?  We think so.
  • Use the TCOFinder to replace / augment the existing Document Library so users can create folders and subfolders for uploaded documents.
  • Update default font styles to Verdana | Small when no other font is specified, experiment with font weights to increase readability on a variety of resolution settings.  These are not problems today - just a nice to have in case a user forgets to specify a font.

* Specific versions vary based on stability from the respective manufacturers.  Every effort is made to make the administrative functions of the TCOEditor available on mainstream platforms and to make sure there are at least one or two good browser options for each major OS platform.  If you use a cutting edge or brand new O/S and Browser combination, we may need to ask you to use another browser periodically.

Note about Mobile 10/1/2010:  With the release of the MobileBuilder last month we expanded support for Mobile browsers to include Dolphin.  Mobile sites still look best on native device browsers.  You may however access a mobile view of your web site using an emulator such as: MobileViewer.
